Resources for India COVID Crisis

India is facing an unprecedented healthcare crisis as COVID-19 cases surge throughout the capital and around the country. The country’s healthcare system is overwhelmed and showing signs of strain, leaving many citizens fighting for dwindling supplies of medical oxygen and other critical equipment. AdvaMed is working around the clock to support its members on the ground in India and aid the country’s broader emergency response. As we track the situation closely, we’d like to share the following information and resources, which we will update on a regular basis.

Oxygen Concentrators

AdvaMed members have identified an acute need for Oxygen Concentrators (OC) for both home and hospital use. AdvaMed has developed a detailed list of OC suppliers that includes manufacturer name, product name, capacity, country of origin, price range, and contact details. If you are interested in getting a copy of our list, please contact Abby Pratt in the Global Department. In addition, the All India Industrial Gases Manufacturers Association has created a platform with lots of useful information about O2 availability in India.

Contributions

There is a critical need to support public health interventions to respond to the growing crisis in India.  Knowing our members are eager to pitch in with both in kind contributions and cash donations, we’ve developed the following resources to guide them as they navigate the complex web of support going into India:

In-Kind Company Donations

AdvaMed is collaborating with The Global Task Force on the Pandemic Response to collect and share information with the U.S. government as it works to facilitate donations of products and services with the Government of India.  If your company is looking to make significant in-kind donations to support the country’s emergency response, please contact Abby Pratt in the Global Department. Here is the Government of India’s list of Priority Items as of May 18:

  • Oxygen cylinders with 10 litres and 45 litres LMO capacity (Liquid Medical Oxygen Capacity)
  • Oxygen concentrators
  • Oxygen generator plants
  • ISO Cryogenic Oxygen Tanker/Container
  • ECMO machines
  • AMPHOTERICIN B injection
  • POSACONAZOLE injection
  • Remdesivir
  • Tocilizumab
  • BIPAP machines
  • Zeolite crystals (adsorbent in oxygen plants)
  • Vaccines

Local Partners/Cash Donations

Members looking for local partners to support financially or to connect with locally on discreet projects should consider the following third-party organizations, all of which have robust public health and humanitarian operations:

Note 1: The Indian Ministry of Corporate Affairs has announced that all spending by corporates related to setting up makeshift hospitals and temporary COVID-19 care facilities will be considered under Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) activities.

Note 2: On May 3, 2021, the Finance Ministry announced that the Federal Government would waive the integrated goods and services tax (IGST) on COVID related goods through June 30 to facilitate relief efforts.
